For centuries man has looked to nature for inspiration in design. Nowhere is this more obvious than in the aerospace and nautical related industries. The evolution of boat and aircraft construction has allowed man to produce hydro and aero–dynamic forms that mimic those seen in the natural world. This sculpture represents these construction techniques; but rather than in a form that we are accustomed to, in the natural form from which they were originally inspired.

The construction is inspired by traditional boat and canoe building techniques, using steambending to coax timber into the smooth and streamlined curves. The timber is held against the lightweight aluminium frames reminiscent of airframe construction.
